Transmitted through sexual contact Ureaplasma urealyticum is a bacterium and not considered a typical sexually transmitted disease although it can be transmitted through sexual contact. Ureaplasma affects about 70% of men and women that are sexually active.
Doxycycline and Azithromycin are two different anitibiotics that can be used effectively to trat Ureaplasma.
